In 2000, the Frankfurt thrashers released the album that would shape their nickname: “Kings Of Beer”
“Kings of Beer” once again underlined the most basic thesis in the history of heavy metal: other bands play, drink tankards. And they did that in plenty of quality with their new guitarist Andi Gutjahr, who joined this venerable troupe of bottle openers after a veritable casting ordeal. Questionable highlight: a weirdo who called himself “Lord of Darkness” and couldn’t even hold the guitar properly, but wore his own personalized condoms. Talent, it seems, comes in many different forms. After Andi landed the gig, Gerre called Andy’s mother, who gave him the good news that her son would now be part of this beer-guzzling, disco-destroying unit. And although things were moving slowly at the time, they just kept running like an immortal machine, well oiled with beer and cider. It is worth noting that the addition of powerhouse Andi to their ranks was the last change in a line-up that still exists today. Gerre, Andi, Frank, Olaf: Eight fists for a halle-booze-jah!
