Ian Anderson’s acclaimed sequel to a progressive rock masterpiece returns – now half-speed mastered for superior sound!
In 2012, Ian Anderson – the legendary Jethro Tull frontman, composer and flautist – revisited one of rock’s most celebrated concept albums with Thick As A Brick 2. Subtitled Whatever Happened to Gerald Bostock?, this audacious sequel explores the imagined later life of the fictional child prodigy who inspired Jethro Tull’s 1972 classic Thick As A Brick.
TAAB2 poses playful “what-if” scenarios for Bostock’s adulthood – banker, homeless wanderer, preacher, soldier, ordinary man – weaving them into a meditation on fate, chance, and the cyclical nature of life. Musically, the album bridges Anderson’s signature wit and literary flair with a modern progressive sound, full of dynamic shifts, rich instrumentation, and lyrical introspection.
Now, Thick As A Brick 2 returns in a deluxe Half-Speed Mastered 2LP edition, cut by award-winning engineer John Webber at AIR Studios, London using audio remastered from the original sources and pressed on black vinyl.
Originally hailed by critics and fans alike as a worthy successor to one of prog rock’s most iconic albums, Thick As A Brick 2 stands as a bold work in its own right – a witty, thought-provoking journey through time, imagination and identity.
